bullet  Noted events in his life were:

• Occupation: general medical practioner (FRCS E), at the time of the census in March 1851. 5 He was then living at 20 Park Place, Leeds. His married son George, also a GP, and his family were living with him as was his unmarried daughter Amelia. His wife was not present as she was visiting with her married sister in Bangor, Carnaevonshire. There was also a medical pupil and four servants in the household.

• Probate: by George Pyemont Smith (of Mount Stead near Ilkley, Yorks, M.D,) John Pyemont of 33 Kensington Park Gardens, Middx, stockbroker) and Rev Samuel Smith (of Whitwick, Leics, D.D.) his sons, the executors, 20 Dec 1867, Wakefield Probate Registry. 4 His estate was valued at under £2000.


Samuel married Amelia Pyemont, daughter of George Pyemont and Amelia Sanders, on 30 Mar 1815 in Pontefract, Yorks.1 (Amelia Pyemont was born on 28 Nov 1795 in Pontefract, Yorks 3 6, baptised on 10 Jan 1796 in Pontefract, Yorks 7 and died on 27 Dec 1866 in Bangor, Caernarvon 3.)
