Noted events in his life were:
• Occupation: general medical practioner (FRCS E), at the time of the census in March 1851. 401 He was then living at 20 Park Place, Leeds. His married son George, also a GP, and his family were living with him as was his unmarried daughter Amelia. Although described as "married", his wife was not present. There was also a medical pupil and four servants in the household.
Samuel married Amelia Pyemont, daughter of George Pyemont and Amelia Sanders. (Amelia Pyemont was baptised on 10 Jan 1796 in Pontefract, Yorks 402.)
