Beeston Old Boys - Cricket Team - 1920s

Old Boys Cricket 1920s

Beeston Lad's Club Old Boys cricket team, undated but probably from the mid 1920s. Standing second from the right on the right on the back row is Arthur Wakefield (1902-1981) who was born and lived all his life in Beeston, working as a painter and decorator with his father, as part of the family firm of G.E. Wakefield & Son. In June 1932, he married Doris Alma Brown at Beeston Parish Church and went on to live at 99 Wollaton Road, Beeston.

Arthur first joined the Boys' Brigade in August 1914 and then again in January 1919. He was then recorded as living with his parents, George Edward and Lilian (née Lowe) Wakefield at 16 Commercial Avenue, Beeston.

Thanks to Arthur's daughter Jan Goodman (née Wakefield) for offering the photograph.

Suggestions for names are very welcome
