• Occupation: Second Master at Liverpool Royal Institution, From 1875 to 1878. 2

• Occupation: private classics tutor, From 1878 to 1882. 2

• Education: at Rossall School, Kings's College, London and Trinity College, Cambridge. 2 He was admitted pens. at Trinity College on October 8, 1868. and Matriculated at Michaelmas 1869; he was Scholar in 1871, a prizeman, Batchelor of Arts (5th Classic) 1873 and Master of Arts in 1876.

• Residence: 9 Brompton Ave, Toxteth Park, Liverpool. 7 He was then living with his wife, two small sons, his mother-in-law and two servants

• Residence: the rectory at East Leake, Notts, at the time of the census in April 1891. 8 He and his wife were probably visiting her sister and her husband; their children were not present (and cannot be found elsewhere).

• Occupation: Assistant Lecturer in Classics at University College, Liverpool, From 1882 to 1898. 2 He went on to be Hon. Assistant Professor from 1898-1904, Secretary from 1900 to 1904 and Registrar at Liverpool University from 1904 to 1913

• Occupation: Classical Professor, University College, Liverpool, at the time of the census in March 1901. 9 He was then living with his wife and four of their children at 8 Wellington Road, Oxton, Cheshire. They employed three domestic servants.

• Residence: Church Street, Dunster, Somerset, prior to his death in February 1922. 10

• Probate: by Douglas Nichols Hebblethwaite (schoolmaster) and Revd. Sidney Pell Potter (clerk), 26 Apr 1922, London Probate Registry. 10 His estate was valued at £280 15s 6d.


Percival married Annie Selina Nichols, daughter of Thomas Nichols and Frances, on 16 Jan 1877 in Cambridge (Holy Trinity).1 (Annie Selina Nichols was born circa 1858 in Cambridge 11 12 13 14, baptised on 19 Dec 1858 in Cambridge (St Clement) 15 and died Q4 1948 in Birkenhead Registration District, Cheshire 16.)
