bullet  General Notes:

No trace can be found of Harold Percival Hebblethwaite in the British Census of 1891, 1901 or 1911. It appears that he went abroad at an early age, probably to India, specifically to Bombay. This makes the identification of his marriage and children's birth date difficult, except to the extent that these can be traced in secondary sources within the UK.

Before 1908 he married his first wife, Kathleen, probably in India. At least one of there three children, probably all of them, was born in Bombay. It seems that their marriage was dissolved some time around 1925 (their youngest child having been born in about 1924) at which time the family appear to have returned to and settled into their respective lives in the UK. Harold continued to trade with India as a merchant, from an office in London., trading in Partnership with Gerald Courtenay Phillips and Walter Henry Ogston, as East India Merchants, from an address at 29 Great St Helens, London

In 1926, he was part of a syndicate that acquired the rights to supply electricity in India (The Bombay Suburban Electric License, 1926). He and Lowther Robert Windham Forrest, Sir Henry Edward Edleston Proctor, Sir Thomas William Birkett, Duncan William Wilson and Frances Charles Annesley, traded as Killick, Nixon & Co together with Callender's Cable & Construction Company Limited were the joint licencees. Their address in India was Killick Building, Home Street, Fort, Bombay. The rights under the contract were acquired by Reliance Infrastructure Limited on 1 October 1929.

Earlier in 1929, he had married for a second time, to Edna May MUNN (or NUNN) and, about this time, bought a substantial property, West Lodge, in Alysham, Norfolk - likely from funds from the sale of his Indian electrical supply rights. The couple also maintained a London home; in 1933 and 1934 they were at 4 White Court, Platt's Lane, Camden, Hampstead and, by 1938 they were at 72 Bryanston Court, George Street, W1. At both these addresses, a Miss Phyllis Maud LODGE was with the household; she has not been identified but may have been a housekeeper.

In 1934, East India Merchants was dissolved as a partnership and reformed, with the same partners and address, as Nixon Forrest & Co. This latter partnership was dissolved by mutual consent, on 13 June 1937.

One child was born to the couple. in 1935, about six years before his death in 1941. 5 6 7 8
