General Notes:
John was born in 1790, but not Norfolk according to census records. Hemet and later married Elizabeth Thompson in London, although she was born in East Rudham, Norfolk, again according to census records. The couple lived the first ten years of their marriage in London, as records show their six eldest children were christened at Holborn and nearby Islington.
Nothing further is known of this ten year period. Their seventh and eighth children, twin girls, were born at East Rudham in 1828, so it can be assumed the family moved to Norfolk sometime between 1826-1828. The next two children were also twins, this time, boys, born in 1831at East Rudham. Three more children were born at East Rudham, the last being Caroline Matilda in 1837. At the 1841 census of East Rudham of which John was the enumerator and his surgeon brother-in-law, Francis Upjohn was registrar, John's occupation is recorded as that of draper, chandler, wine, corn and spirit merchant.
John left a will but this has not as yet been examined.
