He acted as an executor of both his mother's and his aunt's (Mary Agnes Oldrini - died 1895) wills. He was then described as a "Bank Clerk"
Noted events in his life were:
• Occupation: bank clerk, by the time of the census in April 1881. 127 He was then living at the Vicarage, Beeston, Notts with four sisters and two servants. He was then acting as head of household in the absence of his parents who were in Folkestone, Kent.
• Residence: George Street and, later, Portland House, Warsop, Notts, between circa 1889 and 1891. 128
• Occupation: bank clerk, at the time of the census in April 1891. 129 He was then living with his wife, two children and two servants at Portland Villa, Sherwood Road, Worksop.
• Residence, by 1893 and in 1895, Chilwell, Notts. 128 In 1893, his residence was described as "New Chilwell".
• Occupation: bank cashier, at the time of the census in March 1901. 130 He was then living with his wife, five children and two servants at Elm Avenue, Beeston. Based on his youngest daughter's birthplace, the family appear to have moved here in about 1897.
• Probate, 28 Jan 1930, London, St Giles Registation District. 105 He left £869 and was living at 44 Coden Dr, Bexhill-on-Sea, Sussex at time of his death.
Basil married Emily Catherine Potter, daughter of Alfred Potter and Catherine Streets, on 12 Nov 1888 in Beeston Parish Church, Notts 23.,24 (Emily Catherine Potter was born circa 1865 in Keyworth, Notts 25,26,27,28 and died after Jan 1930 29.)
